Series of Training Seminars on the Digital Transformation of Small-to-Medium-sized Enterprises

We would like to inform you that the European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) Cyprus, “DiGiNN”, will organize 3 free training seminars on the following topics and we encourage you to attend them.

  • Cybersecurity

The seminars aim to raise the awareness of SMEs about the above digital systems and infrastructures and to improve their skills so that they can directly apply them to their businesses to become more competitive, resilient, eficient and innovative.

Participation is free. Each seminar will last 2 hours.

Nanotech mission in Japan 2024 – Call for applications

We would like to inform you that the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation The EU-Japan Centre is currently calling for applications for its next nanotech sector Cluster/SME mission to be organised in Japan, on 31 Jan. – 3 Feb. 2023, alongside the “nano tech Expo” (https://www.nanotechexpo.jp/index.html)

  • Mission dates: 30 Jan. – 2 Feb. 2024
  • Application deadline: 5 October 2023
  • Location: Tokyo, Japan

The program targets EU SMEs and clusters specialized in nano and micro technologies: (i.e. Materials; Evaluation & Measurement; Fabrication Technology) interested in doing business with Japan.

Costs:

The EU-Japan Centre covers all costs directly related to the mission: the booth at the trade fair, interpreters…

The participating company is expected to cover travel, accommodation and living expenses. The EU-Japan Centre will offer a €600 grant to help cover above costs.

Opportunities to promote EU startups in Japan – Call for applications

We would like to inform you that the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation collaborates with various online and hybrid startup programs and events in Japan. European startups and innovative companies with an interest in Japan can express their interest in becoming a Centre’s nominee for startup events (both online and hybrid) taking place in autumn 2023. The activity is led by the Centre’s Technology Transfer Helpdesk jointly with the Enterprise Europe Network Japan.

The Global Innovation Forum

An Online Expo, Pitching and Matchmaking Event, bringing together international startups with Japanese companies interested in pursuing collaborations. The Innovation Leaders Summit (ILS)

A Hybrid Open Innovation Matching Event providing “Power Matching” to match major corporations with startups to create innovative new businesses 4-7 December https://ils.tokyo/about

The events/programs, which include various forms of matchmaking, pitching and sometimes mentoring, are most suitable for EU startups that have no business partners in Japan yet but have a strong interest in the country.

EU Startups active in the following deep tech areas can apply: Renewable Energy, Environmental, Decarbonization, Smart Grid, Chemicals, New Materials, Digital Health & Care, Preventive Medicine, Semiconductors, Electronic Components, Batteries, Photonics, VR, AR & MR, Robotics, Mobility, Wearable Devices, Smart Devices, Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Blockchain, Sensing, Telcom, 5G & 6G, IoT, M2M, Construction, Civil Engineering, Smart Home, Smart City, Biotechnology, Plant-Based Meat, Agri Tech, Food Tech, Aquafarming.

The EU-Japan Centre will select from expressions of interest and nominate successful startups for each event. Depending on each event, there will be further selection by the organizers or participation costs incurred.

“KEYS TO JAPAN ” – COMPETE FOR SPONSORSHIP OF YOUR MARKET ENTRY PLAN FOR JAPAN

We would like to inform you that the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial is currently calling for applications for the EU initiative “Keys to Japan”.

Are you considering marketing a product or service in Japan? Do you need a professional market entry plan?

“Keys to Japan” is a European Commission-funded initiative, managed by the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation, which offers a tailor-made detailed business plan for entering the Japanese market to two (2) European Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) selected through a competitive process and wishing to market their products or services in Japan.


Financial conditions for 2023/2024:

The plan worths €10,000: €9.000 are covered by the EU-Japan Centre, and €1.000 will be covered by the SME.


Who is eligible to apply?

Applicants must be citizens of an EU Member-State, working in a management position for a SME headquartered in the EU.

Applicants must be at least 20 years of age at the date of submission of the application form.
Deadline for application: 3 July 2023 (h 17:30 Tokyo time)

Green economy Cluster/SME Matchmaking Mission to Japan

We would like to inform you that the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation is currently calling for applications for its second Green economy Cluster/SME mission to be organized in Japan, on 28 February to 1 March 2024, alongside “Tokyo Decarbonization Expo”.

  • Mission dates: February 28 to March 1, 2024 · Application deadline: 30 October 2023
  • It is a physical mission in Tokyo, Japan

Unique opportunity for B2B meetings!

The participants will have the opportunity to exhibit at the “Tokyo Decarbonization Expo” (https://www.decarbonization-expo.jp/hub/en-gb.html) within a common booth for all the participants of the mission.

Number of places is limited, hence a selection process will be held.

Targets:

Target participants are Small and Medium sized Enterprises and Clusters from EU member states operating in below sectors:

  • Energy production & conservation: Renewables, biomass, Combined Charging System (CCS), Small Modular Reactors, co-generation, energy storage, advanced materials, thermal isolation etc.
  • Eficiency and sustainability: Sustainable consumer products, recycling, waste reduction, re-usable products etc.
  • Mobility: Zero emission vehicles, hydrogen, e-bikes, fuel cells, micro mobility etc.

Costs:

The EU-Japan Centre will cover participation fees to the fair, and the booth operational costs. Travel, accommodation and living expenses must be covered by the participating company . Participants will also benefit from a €600 grant to help offset some of above mentioned costs.

GPPs are the process by which public authorities seek to procure goods, services and projects that have a reduced environmental impact compared to goods, services and projects that are more energy-intensive for the same primary function and throughout their life cycle.

GPPs are an important tool for achieving environmental policy objectives related to climate change, resource use and sustainable consumption and production.

Notice of vacancies of independent evaluators within the framework of BUILD Programme

We would like to inform you that the Bodossaki Foundation, in cooperation with the NGO Support Centre, in the capacity of the Grant Coordinator of the Programme BUILD “Building a robust and democratic civic space”, is looking for independent evaluators – experts – assessors for the evaluation of applications submitted by Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Greece and Cyprus, as candidates for the implementation of projects of the Programme within the framework of the following two (2) calls for expressions of interest:

  1. “Raising awareness and understanding of the rights and values of the European Union”
  2. “Protection and promotion of the rights and values of the European Union”

The evaluators will be responsible for evaluating and scoring the applications and supporting documents submitted, according to specific selection criteria set by the Bodossaki Foundation and the NGO Support Centre (NGO SC).

Work on instant payments in Europe advances

We would like to inform you that the European Central Bank (ECB) published yesterday on its website an update on developments regarding the adoption of direct payments in Europe.

Public administrations pay significant amounts of money, both nationally and across borders, for payments relating to public procurements, pensions, social security contributions and taxes etc. Therefore, the public administrations have an important stake in the payments ecosystem, which is why the ECB is urging public sector bodies to switch to direct payments (see the factsheet on this subject at the link here).

Invitation to participate in the matchmaking event (B2B meetings) Circular Economy B2B@FORWARD GREEN» | 8-9/6/2023

We would like to inform you that the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) is organizing a Matchmaking Event (B2B) under the framework of the 1st Forward Green exhibition and congress event (FG Expo) of HELEXPO, which will take place from 8-10 June 2023, at the TIF-HELEXPO Exhibition grounds in Thessaloniki.

The B2B event will take place on the first two days of the 3-day exhibition, 8-9 June (Thursday and Friday) at 11:00-18:00 in an appropriately designed space on the mezzanine of stand 15 in the exhibition area of TIF.

This event is addressed to companies, agencies, organisations, and governmental agents that are adopting modern practices for the utilisation of raw materials, building materials, technologies, energy, recycling and packaging, which through innovative solutions and smart partnerships, will have a positive impact on reducing environmental pollution, increasing the sustainability of products and services, while creating new business opportunities.

In addition, the B2B event includes a hosted buyer programme, covering travel expenses (accommodation and flight). To qualify for this programme, the applicants must be buyers (i.e. importers, wholesalers, distributors, representatives of chain stores). More details here.

In the registration form, you need to precisely define your business profile and the type of collaboration you want to create. A detailed description of the business profile is extremely important as it increases the chance to arrange “B2B” meetings with other participants. The sooner you register, the more foreign partners will be able to see what your company is offering or requesting.

After registering, you can view other companies’ profiles and book your business meetings.

To complete your registration and be approved, the “Marketplace item” field in your profile (e.g. Product/Service/Request) must be filled in.

SIAL India international food fair – High Level Mission of Commissioner Wojciechowski to India

We would like to inform you that Commissioner Wojciechowski will be visiting India on 6-12 December 2023 accompanied by a delegation of up to 70 senior representatives of European companies/producer organizations of the agri-food sector. This trip will combine official meetings of the Commissioner with the relevant governmental counterparts, and promotion activities attended by the business delegation in conjunction with the European Commission’s presence at SIAL India international food fair with an EU pavilion.

The visit to India will concentrate on providing market intelligence in the food and beverage sector, business-to-business activities, as well as retail and site visits. Theprogram of thebusiness delegation will provide the representatives of the European agri-food sector with an excellent platform to discover the Indian market and to make direct business contacts both in New Delhi (mainly at SIAL India) as well as in Mumbai, with B2B professionals from across India.

Business delegates attending this mission should represent particularly, but not exclusively, the sectors of pork and poultry, chocolate, confectionery and bakery, dairy, wines, beer and spirits, olive oil and vegetable oils, fruits and vegetables, geographical indication products, commodities such as grains, oilseeds, and animal feed.

The Commissioner would like to include in his business delegation European and national producers’ organizations and companies from all EU Member States with strong export potential that preferably have not participated in such EU projects before.

The final selection of the business representatives will be based on the product and geographical balance of the delegation. In this context, the candidates’ representativeness of a given sector, their capacity to conduct international business and accessing challenging markets will also be taken into account.

Senior level representatives from both producer organizations and individual companies are welcome to take part. Participants are expected to attend the whole program.
