DESCRIPTION:We would like to remind you that the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI)\, in collaboration with the Department of Environment of the Ministry of Agriculture\, Rural Development and Environment\, is organizing an informational seminar on the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) for Cypriot Businesses. The seminar will take place on Thursday\, May 23rd\, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm\, on the 1st floor of the CCCI building in Nicosia. \nWhat is the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and who does it concern: \nThe Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM)\, Regulation 2023/956\, entered into force in its transitional phase on October 1\, 2023. \nAny importer importing products falling within the scope of this Regulation from non-EU countries is obliged to submit quarterly reports to the CBAM Transitional Registry\, according to imports made to the Republic of Cyprus. \nDuring the transitional period\, the Regulation will apply to six sectors: \n\nCement\nFertilizers\nIron and steel\nHydrogen\nAluminium\nElectricity\n\nThe first reporting period for importers ended on January 31\, 2024.\n\nAlready\, the Department of Environment as the Competent Authority for the implementation and enforcement of the Regulation has addressed compliance letters to several Cypriot businesses affected by this regulation\, urging them to promptly comply with the obligations arising from the Regulation. \nInterested parties are kindly requested to confirm their participation by clicking here. \nKypros Antoniou | Officer at the Department of Industrial Development\, Innovation and Environment.

DESCRIPTION:We would like to inform you that the Ministry of Energy\, Commerce and Industry in cooperation with the Cyprus Youth Organization (CYYO)\, has announced the 2nd Call for Proposals for the New Entrepreneurship Support Plan. \nThe aim of the project is to develop\, support and promote entrepreneurship by focusing on specific population groups such as young people and women who wish to engage in entrepreneurship in any economic activity\, except those listed in Annex I of the Plan Guide\, by making use of their knowledge\, experience\, training and talents. \nBeneficiaries: \n\nYoung men and women who have been legally resident in areas under the exclusive control of the Republic of Cyprus for the last six months and have free access to work.\nUnemployed or employed\nYoung men and women aged 18-29\, men 30-50 and women 30-55\nThey have not been engaged in business activity in the last six months prior to their application\, i.e. not self-employed or with more than 25% participation in an active business.\n\nThe sponsorship amount is 70% for young people aged 18-29 and 60% for men aged 30-50 and women aged 30-55. \nThe sponsorship is calculated on the cost of the eligible investment costs (Equipment\, Special Facilities\, Buildings – purchase\, construction\, renovation/remodelling\, Promotion) with a maximum eligible budget perenterprise of €120\,000 for activities related to manufacturing\, services and tourism. \nThe total budget allocated for the needs of the Plan is €20 million and may be modified. \nInterested parties can obtain the Guide to the Plan\, which contains all the details\, the Model Application \nForm and other required forms\, from the website of the Ministry of Energy\, Commerce and Industry HERE. \nFor more information\, those interested can contact the competent Ministry officials at 22867178/156/194 and the Youth Officer\, Anna Loizou\, at 22402615. \nThe date of application will be announced at a later stage. \nCCCI\, as the Coordinator of the EEN Cyprus\, will organise a two-hour event on 14 May 2024\, at 16:30\, at the Limassol Chamber of Commerce\, in order to present the Plan in detail and answer any questions. DESCRIPTION:The Enterprise Europe Network Annual Conference is the Network’s flagship event. This year’s edition will take place on 25-27 October 2022 in a hybrid format\, at the O2 universum in Prague\, the Czech Republic\, and online. \nUnder the theme ‘New Network\, new realities\, new impact’\, the conference will bring together Network partners\, representatives of EU institutions\, and key external stakeholders to discuss how the Network’s business support services can best meet the evolving needs of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
